Vietnam redux

I recently met up with a friend of mine. We used to work together and still stay in touch. We meet for lunch every three or four months for what we call our "corporate meeting". It usually lasts for about three hours, we tip well so the waitress doesn't mind. Just enough beers, some chicken wings and lots of talk.

He is a Vietnam vet and now is considered permanently disabled. Outward appearances are fine. But he suffers a bit mentally and physically. He has lost his sense of feel in his left hand and can not tell if there is anything in his pocket. Or forgets about things. He has been affected by Agent Orange.

When I was growing up, it was a time of glory in fighting in a war. The movies made everyone as a hero, giving up your life for your country.

Only later did we find out it was for companies like Dupont and Monsanto and Exxon.  I no longer believe in the American way as the only way.

I hope you take a moment to watch.
thanks
