Information taken from the Wall Street book review (Oil: Money, Politics, and Power in the 21st Century, by Tom Bower)
At his very moment: The world spends $4 million on oil every minute of every day of every year, amounting to $2 trillion bought and moved anually.
The world produces 1,000 barrels of oil every second. If those barrels were physically stacked up, the pile would grow taller at 2,000 miles per hour.
Addictions are tough to stop.

Those are shocking stats. I'm said to say, I have an addiction - thanks to commuting to work.

We all do. It took 50-60 years to get to this point. It is also the hidden oil like power for electric, plastic, food stuff, the sneaky stuff that hinders our recovery.
It's hard to believe that 35 years ago they were saying we had a severe oil shortage--and look at all the progress we've made. Pitiful.

I am guessing with the growth of the electric cars, the car fleet, not the trucks or planes, could be rolled over in about 30-35 years. Eliminating gas for cars would do it.
