It's kind of like the line from the Blues brothers, "We have both, Country and Western".
First there is the Alligator

and then the Crocodile

We assume that any waterway has an alligator. No jumping into the old swimming hole around here unless you want to end up as lunch!

The first time I ever saw one of those critters close up was in Mexico. The power and size truly frightened me.
Every time I see one of those toothy grins I cannot get that image of the one with the zookeeper's arm chomped off in it's mouth.
